SiliconRepublic.com: Fri, December 09, 2011The Budget has brought some welcome improvements to Ireland’s R&D tax credit regime including.
Previously if a company was active in R & D in 2003 they could only claim for spend in later years that was above the 2003 level. Now the first 100,000 Euro spend will be allowed irrespective of the 2003 spend. Great news for everyone who was doing R&D in 2003.
It will be open for a company in receipt of R&D tax credits to use a portion of it to reward employees fundamental to the company’s R&D development. The introduction of this reward scheme could go some way to incentivising key employees in R&D, perhaps negating somewhat the knock on negative effects inventors by the abrupt abolition of the patent tax exemption in November 2010.
