Cathal is a highly experienced European patent attorney and is Deputy Managing Partner in Tomkins & Co. He has an extensive practice before the European Patent Office and national practice in Ireland and the UK, including patent litigation, and his practice includes advice on all aspects of international IP protection. Now a Council member of EPI (the institute which governs European Patent Attorney matters) and former Chairperson of the Patent Laws Committee of the Irish Association of Patent and Trade Mark Attorneys, Cathal has represented patent attorney views on patent practice matters and legislation changes. Cathal is a former speaker to the Orange County Patent Law Association, a regular lecturer to College students, tutor on European patent law and practice, contributor to the book 'New Venture Creation in Ireland' and conducts regular practical workshops on IP.With a background in the pharmaceutical sector and agriculturel his range of technologies includes pharmaceutical, medical devices, machinery, composite materials and adhesive, sealant and coating materials.
