Prior to joining Tomkins, Sinéad worked as a design engineer for an electronic design automation tools provider, and also as a field applications engineer and technical account manager for an electronics component distribution company, working with companies across a broad range of technologies such as medical, security and automotive, supporting their products from design through to manufacture.
During this earlier career an increasing exposure to the field of intellectual property led Sinéad to explore a career as a European Patent Attorney. Sinéad has had the privilege to work with world class professionals in their field and apply her analytical and pragmatic approach and her previous commercial experience to their intellectual property portfolio.
Sinéad’s work as a European Patent Attorney spans a wide spectrum of technical fields including electronics, telecommunications and software with clients involved in security, telecommunications, construction, power electronics, renewable energy, and medical devices. Sinéad also advises on infringement and validity issues and has considerable experience before the Irish Patents Office, the UK Intellectual Property Office and the European Patent Office. As part of her practice, Sinéad has also worked with clients on analysing and mapping their patent portfolios to optimise their value.
Sinéad was awarded the Gearoid O’Sullivan prize by the Association of Patent and Trade Mark Attorneys for achieving the highest mark in the Irish Trade Mark examination in 2009.
